Underwriters Laboratories, Northbrook, Ill., announced a timeline for completion of research and validation of safety certification requirements for E85 fuel dispensing equipment.
Once the research is finalized and the science established, UL said, it expects to be prepared to accept products for evaluation and certification. (Full Story)

Proposed federal tax increase on cigarettes wins Senate approval
Senator Gordon H. Smith (R-Ore.) said that the Senate's March 23 passage of his amendment to the 2008 federal budget allows for an increase in the federal tobacco tax to help fund and expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), which provides health care coverage for millions of low-income children.
