For 2010, the Tobacco Plus Expo Trade Show returns to Las Vegas on March 3-4, 2010 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Known as “The Show That Means Business,” the Tobacco Plus Expo is a one of a kind trade show that includes the full spectrum of tobacco products and accessories. From cigarettes, to cigars, to RYO tobacco, to smokeless tobacco, to pipes, to cigar cutters, and to lighters, the Tobacco Plus Expo Show has the industry covered.
Whether you own and operate a tobacco store, convenience store, grocery store, gasoline service station, or liquor store, every retailer that sells tobacco products should plan to attend the 2010 Tobacco Plus Expo Trade Show. As is tradition, the NATO Annual Awards Dinner will be held on the evening of Tuesday, March 2, the night before the opening of the trade show.
With tobacco products being a significant category for numerous kinds of retailers, the Tobacco Plus Expo offers the opportunity to improve your product mix, sharpen your merchandising strategy and improve your operating procedures. One of the important parts of the trade show for retailers is the set educational seminars held each morning before the trade show floor opens.
For the 2010 show, there are six educational sessions plus a cigar blending demonstration each afternoon of the show by Jose Blanco of La Aurora and courtesy of Miami Cigars. These cigar blending demonstrations will delight the seminar participants with an introduction to blending and the way in which four fillers create a premium cigar recipe. Retailers will come away from the session with ideas on how to educate their own customers in choosing a cigar compatible with their taste and strength preferences.
Besides the cigar blending demonstration, six other sessions will offer retailers a wide range of educational opportunities. The three sessions on Wednesday, March 3, include a choice between: “Driving Sales and Growing Profitability through Store Design and Visual Merchandising” or “El Elefante in Your Aisles: What you Need to Understand About America’s Largest Minority,” followed by the keynote session titled “Skeptics Guide to Positive Thinking in Business”. Then, on Thursday, March 4, retailers can choose between sessions titled “Strategy Gaming and Competitive Intelligence 101” or “Conducting Background Checks” followed by the day’s keynote session “Tobacco Regulation: A Brave New World.”
As a membership benefit, each NATO retail member will be able to sign up two people to attend the seminar sessions at no charge. Through corporate sponsorships, NATO is able to provide these two complimentary seminar passes to each NATO retail member. The information from the seminars is invaluable and attending free of charge is just another reason why retailers benefit from being a NATO member.
With a recent change in Nevada state law, smoking is once again permitted on the trade show floor during exhibit hours. This will allow retailers to sample tobacco products first hand since the show floor is truly one large tobacco store.
Retailers should have already received show registration materials in the mail which detail the show exhibit hall schedule, the slate of seminars to attend, hotel and airline reservation information and other important news about the show. To register on-line and to obtain more information, retailers can also visit the Tobacco Plus Expo Web site at www.tobaccoplusexpo.com.
NATO Awards Dinner
Before the Tobacco Plus Expo trade show officially opens on Wednesday, May 6, NATO will host its annual awards dinner on the evening of Tuesday, March 2 Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. This industry-wide event is an opportunity for all NATO members to socialize during a cocktail reception and then enjoy a formal sit down dinner. The guests will be updated on NATO’s legislative activities and the association will also present the annual NATO Pinnacle Awards to manufacturer and retailer members that have demonstrated extraordinary support of NATO and who have shown the highest degree of commitment and dedication to assisting NATO on tobacco legislative issues.
With accolades of this annual gathering being “First Class,” the NATO Annual Awards Dinner will be an event that NATO members will not want to miss attending. Members will be able to attend the dinner by invitation only. If you are already a NATO member, look for your invitation in the mail in mid-January.
